Memorial Day, the unofficial first day of summer is finally here!!! The forecast is sun and clouds and 77-degrees. If you want to get out and enjoy some of that and/or remember some of our fallen heroes here is some of what Brooklyn has to offer.

Rediscover the Great Outdoors with the Whole Family!

Prospect Park is has planned activities at the Audubon Center all weekend– from Saturday, May 25–Monday, May 27, 12-4pm, with different programs on the hour:

Nature Exploration, 12–4 pm
Prospect Park Audubon Center, Free

Join Prospect Park Alliance on Memorial Day for nature education programs at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, the first urban Audubon Center in the nation.
Discovery Pack, 12–3 pm: Come explore nature on your own with our Discovery Packs, a backpack filled with nature activities and exploration tools, perfect for families and kids to interact with the park in a whole new way!
Animal Encounter, 2–3 pm: Join Alliance Naturalists in learning more about the animals in the Audubon Center’s collection. This program starts promptly at 2 pm.
Family Bird Walk, 3–4 pm: Prospect Park is a stopping point for hundreds of bird species each year! Join us as we search for these amazing creatures and other nature around the park. Binoculars and bird guides are provided. This program leaves promptly at 3 pm

Coney Island Beach opens for the season starting May 25–FREE!

Green-Wood Will Jazz You Out:

On Monday, May 27, 2:30-5:30pm Green-Wood Cemetery will hold its annual outdoor concert near the main entrance on 5th Ave. Please bring a blanket to more comfortably enjoy songs written by New Yorkers including: Fred Ebb, Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Leonard Bernstein, and more!

Everybody Loves a Parade:

The 152nd Kings County Memorial Parade will be led by Senator Marty Golden, and will kick off at 11am at 3rd Avenue between Bay Ridge Parkway and 77th Street, and continue on the following route:

  • 3rd Avenue between 78th Street and Marine Avenue
  • Marine Avenue between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue
  • 4th Avenue between Marine Avenue and 101st Street
  • 3rd Avenue between Marine Avenue and 101st Street

The parade is set to finish at 3pm.
