Letter to the editor by Joanne Weissman

Today December 15th Been here 65 years I seen the good the bad and the ugly. Another Shooting in Red Hook this time a 22 Year Old was killed. We have had many Shooting in the Community from 17 Year Old being Shot 4 Times, Someone Shot in the Foot. To much gun violence, Drug Dealing, The Community is dirty & disgusting. Graffiti all over the place. Where the Hell is Carlos Menchaca, He has the nerve to run for Mayor and hasn’t done nothing in 7 years, Where is Nydia Velazquez, Where is RHI, Where is the Red Hook Justice Center, Where is the Map Program, Where is the New BLM Movement. No Where to be found, all talk no action. Red Hook is looking like the 80’s again. I don’t blame the Police I blame these so called community leaders and organizations. All they want is their 15 minutes of fame and a photo op. If this would have been a Police Involved Shooting they all would have been out there demanding action, but since it wasn’t all you here are crickets.
